My new sofa!

September 28, 2015 by Hayley 6 Comments

It’s been a while since I’ve bought a new sofa, so I was pretty excited to take delivery of one recently. Although it’s pretty much the only thing in the living room, It’s a start and I can see the room taking some shape.

You might remember I did a blog post here on my plans for this space, but once we moved in and I really thought about the way the room will be used and the look I wanted to achieve, I only bought one sofa. I want this room to be open to the kitchen, which for my family is the hub of the house. The kids sit at the breakfast bar or in the living area and chat to me when I’m cooking dinner and I didn’t want to close off the kitchen to the living space with a large sofa running parallel with the kitchen bench.

So I chose one large sofa to place at a right angle to the kitchen bench. I want to place a long console table at the back of it, as I don’t like walking into the back of a couch, and it gives me extra faffing space.  I will add two chairs, which I’ve already bought from Gumtree and are awaiting a refurb. Also a big coffee table on a oversized rug, a couple of side tables and then layer it all with lots of accessories.

The sofa I chose was the Milson, 3 seater from Oz Design Furniture.

It comes standard with the contrast piping, but I chose not to have it. I wanted to keep it very plain and simple as I am a self confessed cushion addict and like to change them up often, sticking with a classic style and colour allows me to do this easily. Oz Design has a large range of fabrics and colours to chose from, I chose the ‘LOOM’ fabric in colour ‘Sand’.

Here’s my sofa in situ, it probably won’t stay in this position, but you get the idea.

And a close up of the fabric.

So, what about the rest of the room?

Unfortunately my beloved Dash and Albert rug from Winton House (pictured) is too small for this area, and it belongs in my dining room anyway, so I am on the hunt for a huge jute rug, preferably about 3m x 4m.

And here’s a few options I’m thinking about for the coffee table and console ….

Look number 1.

Look number 2.

Seagrass side table ottoman | Pottery Barn

Tivoli console table | Pottery Barn

Look number 3.

Terrace Coffee table | West Elm

Oslo Hall Table | Xavier Furniture

That’s the great thing about choosing a classic sofa, it will work with so many different styles!

Which look do you prefer? Or maybe a you’ve got a better idea! Tell me, I’m always open to suggestions!

What a difference a fence can make!

September 25, 2015 by Hayley 3 Comments

This won’t be the most exciting post for my interior obsessed readers, but it is the first thing we have completed at the new house and I felt like it needed some attention.

So, we bought this Very Vanilla house for the amazing views, but we had this big vanilla fence balustrade straight through the middle of it. The fence was not pool compliant either, and since I have a toddler, safety is imperative here. So, the first thing we decided to do to the Very Vanilla house was change and complete the pool fence.

Since my hubby installs glass pool fences, it wasn’t a huge drama. We did need to add on quite a few panels in different areas, but it’s all safe now, and Orly still has a big play area.

The old one was removed, and the new one installed within a week.

I can’t believe what a difference it has made.

Here’s the before and after pics.

Kids bathrooms should be fun!

September 17, 2015 by Hayley Leave a Comment

Do your kids have their own bathroom? There are so many fun kids bathroom accessories available these days, it would pretty much be criminal not to extend your styling into your kids bathrooms. It opens a whole new shopping world of fun and fabulous things, and let me tell you, some of these beauties might be sneaking into my bathroom they are so cool!

Bath Towels

Cosi Rainbow Bath Sheet

I love these Cosi range of kids bath towels. They are 100% cotton, soft and thirsty, and also full size, yes no shrunken little kids towels here, they are a great size and perfect to wrap every kid up in. They come in a fun range of patterned velour on one side and a block colour terry on the other, a perfect balance of fun and functionality for every kids bathroom.

Bath Mats

Pottery Barn Kids is obviously catered towards kids and they get it right every time. They have a steady stream of bath mats on offer, each one cuter and cooler than the last one. Currently on offer is this shark and pretty little turtle, along with an elephant  (not pictured).

Accessories

Toothbrush holders and soap dispensers don’t have to be brightly coloured plastic animals, I found this stylish range from Pillow Talk, it is currently on sale, starting at just $2.50!

And lastly, if your kids are still little, I adore this Moby bath spout cover from Skip Hop. It protects your babies heads from bumps, such a cute idea. I have one of these that was given to me from a friend when Orly was little, we still use it today, just because it looks so cool!

What do you think? Are you inspired to style your kids bathroom with a pop of colour and fun accesories?

I would also like to take this opportunity to answer a couple of questions I get asked regularly.

“Do you get paid to feature products?” No, I don’t. I feature products that I like or feel that my followers will like. I prefer to feature products that I have personally seen or used as I would hate to promote something that is of inferior quality or is not as it appears in photos. I want my followers and readers to trust my judgment on products.

Will you do promotional post in return for products? Yes, If I believe the product is of interest to my viewers. If I come to an agreement with a business to promote their business in return for a product I will disclose it as a ‘sponsored post’. Be prepared, If I do a sponsored post I will ask for a special offer for my readers, there has to be something in it for them too! Occasionally, I receive gifts with no prior arrangement to promote the product, If I choose to share these with you it’s because I genuinely love the item.

How do I get on #mumlittleloves? Simple! Tag me on Instagram, send me an e-mail, leave me a message, send me a sample, just alert me to your product. If I think my readers and followers will like it, I’ll feature it on Instagram and Facebook, and maybe even my blog!
